U10 camp
Racing camp for young racers

Our U10 Saas‑Fee camp is for strong, motivated skiers under 10 who want focused, age‑appropriate training. For this category, we create smaller groups so coaches can stay close on the glacier, manage the T‑bars safely, and give each athlete individual feedback, keeping the Saas‑Fee glacier a safe environment while still offering an appropriate challenge for our younger skiers.

Experienced coaches prioritize safety and development, creating a supportive environment where young athletes improve technique, race skills, and confidence while enjoying skiing with peers.

Coaching young athletes since 2006. We’ve perfected our technical approach for younger athletes to ensure safety and fun.

Ski racing camp for U10 athletes (ages 8–9). Specifically designed for the youngest ski racers, groups are smaller than our regular camps, with a maximum of four skiers per coach. The camp focuses on developing basic technical, mental, and physical skills and helping athletes grow into healthy competitors who love the sport. Our experienced coaches prioritize safety on the glacier and ensure the kids have fun in a supportive environment. Excellent off-ski activity program.

We have included activation and recovery as part of our training to help athletes prepare their bodies for movement and recover properly after intense sessions. It is an effective way to activate key muscle groups, improve mobility, and support the body after a long day of training. It also helps athletes reset mentally and physically for full recovery.

Activation and recovery sessions allow our athletes to work on physical readiness, improve movement quality, and support muscle repair and regeneration. These sessions are highly recommended to reduce injury risk and improve overall performance. Our coaches adapt the exercises, intensity, and duration of each session to match different skill levels and age groups.

All U10 ski racers in our training program will take part in age‑appropriate fitness sessions throughout the week. Each workout is tailored to the developmental stage and individual needs of every child, balancing challenge with safety while keeping activities playful and creative.

These post‑ski sessions emphasize gentle recovery from on‑snow training and focus on injury prevention for young bodies. Exercises target basic strength, coordination, balance, agility, and flexibility using short, varied tasks and lots of movement breaks to suit attention spans and energy levels.

Saas‑Fee offers a safe, inspiring setting for a wide range of child‑friendly fitness activities. During these sessions, U10 athletes training privately will be grouped with peers of the same age so they can learn, play, and develop together.

In the afternoons and on days when you’re not skiing, we’ll do lots of fun activities. You can play team games, go on short mountain hikes, and try indoor sports. Saas-Fee is a great place for all these activities. There are easy paths that kids can walk on, big fields for team games, and indoor halls for sports when the weather is bad. Everything is safe and made for kids your age, so you’ll have lots of fun and stay active.

BOULDERING:
Bouldering in the Swiss Alps during the summer is a fun way for 8- and 9-year-olds to try climbing on big rocks close to the ground. The mountains have many different rocks to practice on, so kids can try easy moves and get stronger while enjoying amazing views. Make sure climbs are low, there’s always an adult watching, and use crash pads and helmets. Turn it into a game: count moves, try simple routes, and cheer when someone reaches the top.

ROLLERBLADING:
Rollerblading helps young skiers by practicing balance, coordination, and control — skills that are also used when skiing. Short rollerblading sessions make legs stronger and improve reaction time. For 8- and 9-year-olds, skate on smooth, quiet paths with a helmet and pads. Do playful drills like gentle side-to-side carving, cone slaloms, and short one-foot glides to build the same movements used on skis.

BALANCE:
Balance is very important for ski racing, even for kids. Good balance helps skiers stay steady, turn better, and avoid falls. For 8- and 9-year-olds, balance work should be short, fun, and varied: walk on a low beam or a line, stand on one foot while tossing a ball, do small hops with soft landings, or use a wobble board for a few seconds. Ski Zenit’s program uses games and simple exercises that help kids get stronger, more stable, and more confident on the mountain.

Taking good care of ski bases and edges is essential for effective ski training. We will teach younger athletes how to wax their skis and will sharpen edges as needed. Athletes are expected to arrive at camp with their equipment in good condition and ready for race training.

ski camp europe video-analysis

Video analysis is an important tool for our coaches to help 8- and 9-year-old skiers understand and improve the skills they are working on during ski training. Technical and tactical ideas important to performance will be explained using simple, positive language and clear visuals so they know what to try in the next day’s practice. One short, age-appropriate video session will be held after every 2 or 3 days of training.

THE TOWN: Saas-Fee is a pedestrian-only town where only certain electric vehicles are allowed. The atmosphere is very serene, clean, and the town is surrounded by an impressive landscape of forests and glaciers with peaks reaching 4400 metres. It has all necessary services and a wide range of sports facilities. These safe and relaxed conditions make it an ideal place for any athlete to enjoy and have productive training.

THE GLACIER: The Saas-Fee glacier, where the camps are held, is at an altitude of between 3200 and 3600 metres. It has four T-bar drag lifts providing access to 3 free skiing runs and 5 gate training runs. In order to access the glacier in summertime, you must take two cable cars and an underground funicular train. The trip takes a total of 35 minutes.

In a normal year, the vertical skiable area increases by 700 metres by the beginning of November adding many more skiing options.

Weather conditions can vary quite drastically, even during the summer, and we therefore recommend that you pack clothing for both warm and cold conditions.

All athletes participating in the Camp must have current ski accident insurance valid in Switzerland covering at least civil liability, rescue on the slopes (including helicopter), medical treatment and repatriation. We recommend insurance which also reimburses you for services unused due to injury (ski pass, training, lodging, etc.).

Photocopies of participants’ insurance card must be given to Ski Zenit leaders upon arrival or a digital copy can be sent ahead of time.

Switzerland has agreements with EU Member States for medical assistance at public hospitals. In order to take advantage of such agreements, you must have the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). You need to apply for this card well in advance at your local medical centre in the EU.

We offer double, triple and quadruple bedrooms. The hotel is a 1 minute walk from the town centre and 5 minute to the lift (cable car).

The hotel has a restaurant, living room, wi-fi and a ski room. Rooms are cleaned and sheets and towels changed once per week. Each athlete is responsible for keeping his/her room tidy at all times. The beds have Nordic comforters so bed-making is fast and simple. Towels are included.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are prepared by the hotel staff. Any special dietary needs must be communicated to Ski Zenit in advance.

Collaboration among all participants and teamwork are requirements for successful co-existence in the Hotel.

Switzerland is a member of the Schengen Area meaning that travellers from EU countries which are party to that treaty may enter the country with their identity card. However, minors must always travel with a valid passport. Travellers from other countries must check the conditions for entry into Switzerland before embarking on their trip.

Proper water intake is an important factor for all athletes. Athletes taking part in our camps must take even greater care because of the altitude on the glacier and the low relative humidity. For training on the slopes and post-ski workouts, athletes must carry at least one litre of liquid in their training backpack and this liquid must be consumed during the course of the training session.

Sun protection using high factor sun cream is also indispensable. You must also carry quick-energy, salty snacks with you to glacier training (energy bars, nuts, fruit, and sandwiches). There is always a break during glacier training to eat snacks. Athletes staying in our hotel will be offered a variety of snacks to choose from at breakfast time every morning.

A well-balanced and abundant breakfast before training is also of vital importance and we will insist that all our athletes heed this recommendation.

While athletes are training with us, their diet should be varied, healthy and sufficient and must include fruits and vegetables. Our ski camps include instruction on healthy eating habits.

Ski Zenit offers its athletes and their chaperones a transfer service in comfortable mini-buses from/to the Geneva, Zürich, Basel or Milan airports. Transfer by motorway takes about three hours. All airport transfer drivers are authorised to check-in all young athletes traveling alone.

Athletes who have made purchases will pick up their new equipment at the local Intersport Glacier shop upon arrival.

There they can also find helmets, goggles and other accessories with a 10% discount. The shop also offers professional boot fitting and ski tuning with the most modern machine.
