Saas-Fee
Weekend camps

Our Saas-Fee weekend camps are designed for motivated racers who want a high-quality technical boost before the winter season while staying connected to their club or organization.

Train in small groups with a clear focus on Giant Slalom (GS) and Slalom (SL), building confidence, consistency, and speed through efficient weekend blocks. This is the perfect weekend formula to sharpen your skiing before winter.

These weekends are ideal for ski club athletes who want structured gate training, strong coaching input, and video feedback without committing to a full-week camp.

The glacier of Saas‑Fee is the ideal location in Europe for late‑summer and autumn weekend ski camps. High altitude and reliable snow make efficient on‑snow training possible well into the season. The traffic‑free pedestrian village supports a healthy lifestyle and supplies everything athletes need for targeted conditioning and recovery on non‑ski days — which is why top international athletes choose Saas‑Fee for pre‑season preparation.

Weekend camps focus on developing and reinforcing technical, tactical, physical, and mental fundamentals. Sessions are compact and intense, with tailored ski-race coaching. All training sessions and activities are adapted to each group’s age and ability.

Format: Arrival Friday evening; two days of focused training (Saturday and Sunday); departure Sunday late afternoon. Camps run on weekends from late August through mid-November. Participants may join single weekends or book multiple consecutive weekends. Optional extra Friday training is available at a special price for those who want an additional session before the weekend.

Each weekend includes:

Ski Training

Age 8–11 Weekend camps tailored for the youngest ski racers. Focused on building fundamental technical, mental, and physical skills while promoting healthy athletic development and a lifelong love of skiing. Sessions combine on-snow skill work with a varied off-ski activity program designed for fun, recovery, and coordination.

Age 12–15 Weekend camps aimed at U16 racers who want to become more self-directed athletes. On-snow training reinforces and advances technical and tactical skills through engaging, game-based sessions that challenge decision-making and race awareness. A strong off-ski activity program complements the ski work with strength, mobility, and team-building activities.

FIS Level Weekend camps for FIS racers of all competitive levels. Training methods emphasize confidence-building and performance gains, with individualized programs tailored to each athlete’s goals—whether race preparation, technique refinement, or competition strategy. Off-ski sessions focus on targeted physical conditioning, recovery protocols, and mental preparation.

OUTDOOR AND INDOOR SPORTS:
If the ski resort is closed on a weekend and skiing isn’t available, we can offer team sports, mountain treks, and indoor activities. Saas‑Fee offers well‑marked paths for all ages and skill levels, modern indoor sports facilities, and dedicated fields for team sports, ensuring varied options in any weather.

BOULDERING:
If the ski resort is closed for the weekend, head to the Swiss Alps’ summer bouldering areas for a strong outdoor alternative. Alpine boulder fields and rock faces provide varied problems that test technique, power, and endurance — great for maintaining climbing-specific strength outside the snow season. Expect stunning mountain and valley views, compact sessions you can fit into a day, and opportunities to work on footwork, core tension, and grip under real-rock conditions. Suitable for experienced climbers and beginners (with a partner, crash pads, and appropriate local information).

ROLLERBLADING:
When the resort is closed for the weekend, rollerblading is an excellent way to preserve and sharpen skiing-related skills. Use smooth, low-traffic roads or large parking lots for interval sessions, edge-control drills, and cross-over turns to reinforce balance, coordination, and leg strength.

BALANCE:
If you can’t get on snow over the weekend, use targeted balance work to keep your racing edge. Single-leg stability drills, wobble-board or BOSU sessions, dynamic balance exercises (lunges with rotation, single-leg hops), and sport-specific movement patterns will increase stability and control. Integrate short sessions before or after rollerblading or bouldering to reinforce neuromuscular coordination. Ski Zenit’s program can be adapted into compact weekend routines to help ski racers preserve balance, reduce injury risk, and stay race-ready while the resort is closed.

THE TOWN: Saas-Fee is a pedestrian-only town where only certain electric vehicles are allowed. The atmosphere is very serene, clean, and the town is surrounded by an impressive landscape of forests and glaciers with peaks reaching 4400 metres. It has all necessary services and a wide range of sports facilities. These safe and relaxed conditions make it an ideal place for any athlete to enjoy and have productive training.

THE GLACIER: The Saas-Fee glacier, where the camps are held, is at an altitude of between 3200 and 3600 metres. It has four T-bar drag lifts providing access to 3 free skiing runs and 5 gate training runs. In order to access the glacier in summertime, you must take two cable cars and an underground funicular train. The trip takes a total of 35 minutes.

In a normal year, the vertical skiable area increases by 700 metres by the beginning of November adding many more skiing options.

Weather conditions can vary quite drastically, even during the summer, and we therefore recommend that you pack clothing for both warm and cold conditions.

All athletes participating in the Camp must have current ski accident insurance valid in Switzerland covering at least civil liability, rescue on the slopes (including helicopter), medical treatment and repatriation. We recommend insurance which also reimburses you for services unused due to injury (ski pass, training, lodging, etc.).

Photocopies of participants’ insurance card must be given to Ski Zenit leaders upon arrival or a digital copy can be sent ahead of time.

Switzerland has agreements with EU Member States for medical assistance at public hospitals. In order to take advantage of such agreements, you must have the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). You need to apply for this card well in advance at your local medical centre in the EU.

We offer double, triple and quadruple bedrooms. The hotel is a 1 minute walk from the town centre and 5 minute to the lift (cable car).

The hotel has a restaurant, living room, wi-fi and a ski room. Rooms are cleaned and sheets and towels changed once per week. Each athlete is responsible for keeping his/her room tidy at all times. The beds have Nordic comforters so bed-making is fast and simple. Towels are included.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are prepared by the hotel staff. Any special dietary needs must be communicated to Ski Zenit in advance.

Collaboration among all participants and teamwork are requirements for successful co-existence in the Hotel.

Switzerland is a member of the Schengen Area meaning that travellers from EU countries which are party to that treaty may enter the country with their identity card. However, minors must always travel with a valid passport. Travellers from other countries must check the conditions for entry into Switzerland before embarking on their trip.

Proper water intake is an important factor for all athletes. Athletes taking part in our camps must take even greater care because of the altitude on the glacier and the low relative humidity. For training on the slopes and post-ski workouts, athletes must carry at least one litre of liquid in their training backpack and this liquid must be consumed during the course of the training session.

Sun protection using high factor sun cream is also indispensable. You must also carry quick-energy, salty snacks with you to glacier training (energy bars, nuts, fruit, and sandwiches). There is always a break during glacier training to eat snacks. Athletes staying in our hotel will be offered a variety of snacks to choose from at breakfast time every morning.

A well-balanced and abundant breakfast before training is also of vital importance and we will insist that all our athletes heed this recommendation.

While athletes are training with us, their diet should be varied, healthy and sufficient and must include fruits and vegetables. Our ski camps include instruction on healthy eating habits.

Ski Zenit offers its athletes and their chaperones a transfer service in comfortable mini-buses from/to the Geneva, Zürich, Basel or Milan airports. Transfer by motorway takes about three hours. All airport transfer drivers are authorised to check-in all young athletes traveling alone.

Athletes who have made purchases will pick up their new equipment at the local Intersport Glacier shop upon arrival.

There they can also find helmets, goggles and other accessories with a 10% discount. The shop also offers professional boot fitting and ski tuning with the most modern machine.

Convenient train service is available from the Zurich, Geneva, Milan and Basel airports to the town of Visp taking about 2 hours and 45 minutes.
