Dear Parents and Athletes,
We are thrilled to welcome you to Saas-Fee for this year’s Ski Zenit Ski Race Training Camps. Please read this full information pack carefully. It includes everything you need to know for your arrival, your stay, and a successful training week.
1. ORIENTATION MEETING – Very important to attend
- Day & Time: Sunday at 16:30 SHARP.
- Location: Hotel Alpin (Ski Zenit Hotel), directly opposite the Alpin Express Gondola lift.
- Google Maps: Click here (Address: Mischistrasse 18, 3906 Saas-Fee).
- Purpose: Meet all coaches and athletes, form training groups, receive the weekly schedule and all the information needed to enjoy a smooth camp.
Important:
- Please be on time.
- If you can’t attend, all info will be sent via WhatsApp Channel (see item 4. below) on Sunday evening. Please don’t text, Whatsapp or email individually to ask for information. Just be sure you have joined the camp Whatsapp Channel before the orientation meeting.
- Athletes will have the team meeting with their coach and join team-building games after the meeting (bring sportswear and water)
- For a more direct and detailed information of the daily activities, coaches will create their team WhatsApp groups with the athletes, and/or with the parents in the case of younger athletes.
- If any athlete needs equipment check or setup, communicate it to the coach at the welcome meeting so it can be done right after.
2. SKI ZENIT HOTEL
- Check-In Time: Sunday, 14:00 (2PM) – 16:00 (4PM).
- Hotel Name: Hotel Alpin (Ski Zenit Hotel).
- Address: Mischistrasse 18, 3906 Saas-Fee.
- Electric Taxi to the hotel: Complimentary electric shuttle to the hotel from the Post Office/Bus Terminal*.
- Please call the hotel to arrange your electro transfer: +41 27 957 15 77 when driving through Saas-Grund, the village just below Saas-Fee.
*For guests staying in different hotels or apartments, please arrange the shuttle from the parking directly with them or with a taxi company.

- Only Ski Zenit hotel supervisors will bring athletes to their rooms.
- Parents PLEASE stay in the hotel reception to fill out your HOME ADDRESS for the hotel, for the mandatory hotel guest tourist card/pass.
- Parent-Free Zone: No parents allowed on upper floors or in rooms.
- Weekly Info Meetings:
- Sunday at 18:30 with Miquel to covers rules, daily routine, and hotel expectations.
- Sunday at 18:45 with the Head Coach to cover some nutritional tips and guidelines.
- Ski Zenit Hotel Supervisor Contact Time: Daily 18:00-19:00 (emergencies only outside of these hours).
- Dinner at 19:00 is mandatory for all athletes staying in the hotel. An explicit authorization is needed for any athlete to go out for dinner with their parents.
- Laundry: CHF 15 per bag (Ski Zenit hotel athletes only). Athletes who wish to use the laundry facilities should bring CASH and pay directly to hotel reception.
3. WHATSAPP CHANNEL – COMMUNICATION
- Join the Ski Zenit Saas-Fee Channel via THIS LINK, if you haven’t done it yet
- Used for:
- First day orientation information.
- All important camp information will be posted here.
- Daily schedules and updates.
- Program changes.
- Emergencies.
- PLEASE check the Channel frequently EVERY DAY for any updates/new information.
- All athletes (U14 and older) and parents must join. Please note that ALL athletes staying at our Ski Zenit hotel WILL be informed on all information EVERYDAY by our hotel supervisor, so they are not obliged to have brought a phone with them during the camp.
- Open the channel and turn notifications ON.
- Pin the channel for easy access.
- Check the channel daily for schedules and updates.
- Please do not contact us asking to be added.
4. ATHLETE RESPONSIBILITIES
Athletes are expected to:
- Know their daily schedule.
- Bring the correct equipment.
- Be on time for all sessions.
- Communicate directly with their coach when unsure.
5. EQUIPMENT – PERSONAL
Essential Equipment
- GS and SL skis (labelled with name/initials) – in case you would prefer to travel without skis, please check out our great rental options below at item 6.
- For U10: GS or longer SL skis only.
- Proper-fitting race boots (bindings must match, check before arrival!.
- Back protector (mandatory).
- Helmet (FIS-approved).
- Slalom gear from U12 onward: chin guard or specific SL helmet with chinguard, shin guards, pole guards.
- 2 goggles (sun & fog).
- Ski socks (multiple pairs).
- Cut resistant under layers (recommended).
- Ski gloves with protected backhand (x2).
- Neck warmer.
- High-factor sun cream.
- 1L Water bottle or thermos.
- Training backpack (large enough for boots, layers, helmet, snacks).
Clothing Checklist
- Ski jacket, pants, thermals.
- Race suit and ski shorts (recommended, not mandatory).
- Windbreaker.
- Diston Anti-cut layers are highly recommended. They will be mandatory for U16 and FIS athletes starting from next year. You can purchase them through Ski Zenit at a special rate, ordering 2 weeks before your arrival in Saas-Fee.
- Outdoor running shoes.
- Indoor sport shoes.
- Swimwear.
- Dryland training clothes.
6. EQUIPMENT RENTAL
- HEAD and Nordica GS / SL skis, boots, poles and protection equipment are still available to rent through Ski Zenit:
- To arrange rental equipment, please reply within your original booking email thread to info@skizenit.ch and provide the following information no later than Friday at 18:00 (Zurich time) before your camp begins:

- Please note: Our stock of the latest HEAD and Nordica race skis and boots is limited and equipment is allocated on a first come, first served basis. We therefore strongly recommend submitting your rental request as early as possible.
Through our rental partner, Glacier Sports, we offer a wide selection of race equipment, including the latest HEAD and Nordica models, as well as carefully maintained Fischer and Rossignol race gear. If your preferred size is no longer available in the newest HEAD or Nordica range, we will provide the most suitable equivalent equipment from our rental fleet. All skis and boots are professionally serviced before every camp and selected by our coaches together with Glacier Sports to ensure they meet each athlete’s age, level and training requirements. - If you also require protective equipment, such as SL shin guards, a race helmet with chin guard (mandatory), a back protector (mandatory for all athletes), or forearm guards, these can be purchased from our resort partner, Glacier Sports. Please note that protective equipment is available for purchase only and is not available to rent.
- To arrange rental equipment, please reply within your original booking email thread to info@skizenit.ch and provide the following information no later than Friday at 18:00 (Zurich time) before your camp begins:
- Rental Equipment Collection:
- All rental equipment will be prepared and fitted at 15:00, approximately 1.5 hours before the Welcome Meeting.
- Meeting Point: Glacier Sport Shop, Saas-Fee
- A Ski Zenit coach and Glacier Sport staff will assist with equipment fitting and setup.
- Late arrivals: Rental equipment can be collected from the Ski Zenit Service Room (behind Hotel Alpin, next to the volleyball/basketball courts).
- Please note: All rental skis will be labelled with the athlete’s name.

- Athletes must bring their own:

- Diamond stones.
- Wax.
- Files, diamond stones and wax will be available for purchase at the welcome meeting.
- Ski Zenit provides:

- Brushes for ski base polishing.
- File guides.
- Guidance from coaching staff.
9. SKI ZENIT PRODUCTS / SERVICES STILL AVAILABLE

10. WEEKLY SCHEDULE (MON–SAT)
- 5 ski days (Monday–Friday).
- Mornings: Glacier skiing.
- Time slot shared daily via
- WhatsApp Channel, and
- Individual coaching WhatsApp groups.
- Time slot shared daily via
- Afternoon: Dryland, ski prep, stretching, video analysis.
- Lunch: Nutritious meal & rest before afternoon sessions.
- Saturday camp FINISH TIME = 13.00. NO DRYLAND on Saturday afternoon:
- If the glacier was closed during the week → ski race training session. Please collect Athletes at 13:00 from outside Hotel Alpin.
- If we’ve skied Monday to Friday → dryland activity session on Saturday morning. Please collect Athletes at 13:00 from outside Hotel Alpin.
11. GLACIER & WEATHER
- Training at 3,500m altitude.
- Weather changes quickly – bring layers.
- Daily essentials:
- Extra clothing.
- Snacks and 1L+ water.
- Sun cream (high SPF).
- Glacier Closures:
- Glacier closure may occur due to wind, avalanche risk, unstable glacier due to warm temperatures, poor visibility or technical breakdowns of lifts.
- Alternative high-quality off-snow training sessions are always provided.
- For over 20 years, Ski Zenit has successfully operated summer and autumn training camps in Saas-Fee. While mountain conditions can never be guaranteed, Saas-Fee has historically provided reliable training throughout the season.
- Resort Operations: The glacier is prepared annually for summer skiing operations. Any significant changes to resort operations will be communicated to athletes and families as soon as information becomes available.
- For additional peace of mind, you may wish to add our Cancellation Protection, which allows cancellation for any reason up to 48 hours before the camp start date and provides a 90% refund or 95% credit on insured services. Full details can be found here:
- If you would like to add this, please let us know and confirm to add the Cancellation Protection to your booking 28 days before your training camp begins.
12. MEETING POINTS & TIMING
- Morning Location: Alpin Express Bottom Station.
- Exact Time: Shared each evening on the WhatsApp Channel for the next day.
IMPORTANT:
- Don’t be late – lift access is time-sensitive.
- Hotel athletes under 16 are escorted by our Ski Zenit hotel supervisor.
- External (non-hotel) athletes must be punctual.
13. FOOD & NUTRITION
- Breakfast: Essential for energy. Long lasting carbs, fats, proteins, vitamines.
- Mid-morning snack: Mandatory (fruit, bars, sandwich). Fast carbs, vitamins, minerals and hydration. For the athletes staying in the Ski Zenit hotel, snacks are also provided.
- Hydration: 1+ litres of water per ski morning.
14. VIDEO ANALYSIS
- Videos shared via Google Drive link (sent upon booking – PLEASE CHECK your original booking email confirmation).
- Uploaded daily by coaches.
- For athlete feedback and training purposes (not intended for parents follow up).
15. CODE OF CONDUCT
Athlete Conduct:
- Please re-read our Code of Conduct.
- Respect others.
- Be engaged and prepared.
- No phones during sessions.
Parents Conduct:
- Be aware of all information sent via email and whatsapp.
- Be aware of our General terms & Conditions. We strongly recommend a travel insurance covering cancellation.
- Contact coaches directly for pertinent questions or urgent matters.
- No parents are allowed in any kind of camp activity when the athletes are with their coaches.
- Encourage athletes to have direct communication with coaches and camp staff, trying to avoid complicated communications by phone or email athlete to parent, parent to coach. Ownership and accountability are some of the values we try to teach to all our athletes.
16. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- Is insurance required?
Yes – mandatory. All athletes must have adequate health and accident insurance, including helicopter rescue coverage. Medical and rescue costs in Switzerland can be significant. - Are ski passes included in the training?
No. Ski passes are always shown as a separate item on your invoice and are not included in the training price. - Does the Magic Pass cover the Saas-Fee glacier ski area?
No. The Magic Pass is not valid for summer and autumn glacier skiing in Saas-Fee. All athletes must purchase the appropriate ski pass through Ski Zenit, regardless of whether they hold a Magic Pass. The Magic Pass only becomes valid for winter operations in Saas-Fee from late October/early November onwards. - Do you offer refunds following inclement weather, lift closures?
No. Alternative activities or training arrangements will always be provided. - Is weekend supervision provided?
Yes. Weekend supervision is included for hotel athletes staying multiple consecutive weeks. - Questions about the schedule, equipment or training programme?
