Ski Training Zenit El Colorado

Ski Zenit’s ski racing camp in Chile is designed for racers of all ages that want to get the most out of their racing. Prior to this camp, athletes are strongly encouraged to have spent several weeks on the snow to work on their base technique. Prior training before arriving in Chile allows athletes to focus fully on technical, tactical and psychological improvement, whilst training in proper Winter race conditions.

Yoga in Saas Fee

In our ski camp in Chile, racers will do recovery and stretching sessions every day and light condition training sessions some evenings each week.

ski camp europe ski tuning

A proper ski tuning workshop will be available for all athletes so they can tune their skis daily, with trainers assistance.

ski camp europe video-analysis

Video analysis is an extremely valuable tool for our coaches to help racers understand and improve their performance during ski training. Technical and tactical concepts crucial to performance will be explained in detail during these sessions, ensuring clarity for the next training day. The timing of the video analysis sessions will be decided by each group’s coach.

The Ski Zenit coaches will be in the same hotel as the athletes and will therefore be able to chaperone the group. Every racer under 18 attending the ski camp in Chile is expected to be mature and responsible enough to follow the camp rules with a high degree of autonomy.

THE TOWN: Farellones is a small town approximately 70 km from Santiago de Chile. It is very peaceful and surrounded by nature. There are a few cafés and restaurants in close proximity to the hotel. There is also a gym we can use for our post-skiing workouts and for athletes to play basketball, ping pong, rock climbing, etc.

THE SKI RESORT: El Colorado is an amazing ski resort with a significant vertical drop. It is only a 10-minute drive from the hotel in Farellones. It is ideal for training, with solid snow conditions and varied terrain. There is a wide variety of slopes for us to choose from for training, and we have guaranteed training space.

In the worst-case scenario of not having enough snow to set gates, we would pivot the trip to another ski resort with good snow conditions. This is a situation that shouldn’t occur, but we are prepared just in case.

All athletes participating in the Camp must have current ski accident insurance valid in Switzerland covering at least civil liability, rescue on the slopes (including helicopter), medical treatment and repatriation. We recommend insurance which also reimburses you for services unused due to injury (ski pass, training, lodging, etc.).

Photocopies of participants’ insurance card must be given to Ski Zenit leaders upon arrival or a digital copy can be sent ahead of time.

Switzerland has agreements with EU Member States for medical assistance at public hospitals. In order to take advantage of such agreements, you must have the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). You need to apply for this card well in advance at your local medical centre in the EU.

We will stay at El Castillo in Farellones. It is a comfortable hostel with double, triple, and quadruple rooms. Breakfast and dinner will be served in the hostel’s restaurant, and lunch will be at the restaurant by the slopes.

Other accommodation options are available for families wishing to stay with their children, and we can arrange all of this. Any lodging rented through Ski Zenit has a minimum cancellation fee in case there is not enough snow in the area, and we have to move our trainings elsewhere.

You need to make sure that you have a valid passport to get into Chile. Depending on the country of origin you might have to pay a tourist entry visa.

Proper water intake is an important factor for all athletes. Athletes taking part in our camps must take even greater care because of the altitude on the glacier and the low relative humidity. For training on the slopes and post-ski workouts, athletes must carry at least one litre of liquid in their training backpack and this liquid must be consumed during the course of the training session.

Sun protection using high factor sun cream is also indispensable. You must also carry quick-energy, salty snacks with you to glacier training (energy bars, nuts, fruit, and sandwiches). There is always a break during glacier training to eat snacks. Athletes staying in our hotel will be offered a variety of snacks to choose from at breakfast time every morning.

A well-balanced and abundant breakfast before training is also of vital importance and we will insist that all our athletes heed this recommendation.

While athletes are training with us, their diet should be varied, healthy and sufficient and must include fruits and vegetables. Our ski camps include instruction on healthy eating habits.

Ski Zenit offers airport transfers for athletes joining the camp. There is a shared transfer that departs from the airport to Farellones at approximately 12:00 on Sundays, and returns at around 17:00 on Saturdays during the weeks our camps are offered. For transfers on different dates for athletes or companions, please inquire and we can organize them.
